Reviews Overview

Most Liked

Customers love the rich array of freshly brewed Portuguese coffees, particularly the Galão and the rich Espresso, each sip transporting them closer to the streets of Lisbon. The star of Ventura's is undoubtedly the Pastel de Nata, often praised for its creamy filling and perfectly crispy shell. Diners can't get enough of the homemade cakes, like the zesty orange cheesecake tart, which pair beautifully with their coffee. The friendly and attentive staff consistently receives accolades for enriching the dining experience. Good value for money is a recurring theme in reviews, where patrons appreciate the portion sizes and quality offered at a reasonable price, typically ranging from £1 to £10.

Most Disliked

While most feedback is overwhelmingly positive, some diners mention the occasional wait time during peak hours, particularly on Tuesdays at 11 AM, which can lead to a packed café. A few guests wish the seating area was larger to accommodate the burgeoning popularity—the cozy atmosphere sometimes feels a bit too snug when the café is busy. Additionally, a small number of customers have expressed a desire for more vegetarian or vegan options, as the menu is heavily skewed toward traditional meat and fish dishes. Although the overall dining experience is pleasant, these minor issues can occasionally detract from an otherwise satisfying visit.

Ventura’s is one of the nicest Portuguese places in the north. All the food I’ve had here is amazing, and is great value for money. I absolutely recommended the fish croquetta type things. And obviously buy some of their Pastel de Natas. They have a good selection of store items too, including PAN flour, if you’re wanting to make your own arepas or whatever.
